With the recent realisation that anything processed doesn’t agree with me, even if there aren’t any of my allergens listed in the ingredients, I’m going on a no processed food diet. Let’s see how long that lasts.
To help me, I decided to start getting a vegetable box delivered for a while; if I don’t use it all or find it too expensive I will stop, but there were a few inticements which sold this one to me.
If you get a veg box from Able & Cole they’re offering you a free cook book, the fourth box free and a calendar! I’m a sucker for a free gift so I thought I’d give it a try. Find out more on their website.
Anyway it has just arrived and includes the calendar, no free cookbook yet but perhaps that comes once I’ve proved my loyalty.
In the box are:
- One avocado
- One savoy cabbage
- Bananas
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Kiwi fruit – not sure we’ll eat those so I’ll mark these on the website as a dislike!
- Leeks
- Sante poatatoes
Like with the Kiwi above, if there is anything you don’t want, particularly dislike or are allergic to you can set up your preferences on the website. No celery and tomatoes coming to this house.
They have also sent a lovely smelling fancy brochure stuffed full with all the other stuff you can order from them, including, I noticed, Dove’s Farm flour, but not the gluten free option. I’ll be checking with them whether they can supply this and at what price and what other allergy free stuff they stock.
I’ve started with a fortnightly delivery, so if I think of anything I’m short of or have forgotten, I can edit my order and add it online the day before. I do regular orders online for freefrom stuff but you need to be organised, have a long list, and I always try to spend enough to warrant free postage so I often find msyelf without stuff because I’m not organised enough.
Hopefully this will be fun. I’m seeing lots of hearty soups and trying out new recipes, I got a new cookbook for Christmas so I shall be adventurous and try new stuff.
Do you get a veg box? Do you find you use everything? or are you left throwing stuff on the compost?
