A real treat on a hot, steamy day in busy, frantic and always moving (slightly too slowly) day in London.
Pods are popping up all over London and there are currently about 22 in total with more due to open soon.
I had a large zingy lemon, ginger and mint tea which was just perfect on a hot day.
Apart from a pin prick steam burn on my palm from the vent on the top of the plastic lid of the cup (watch out, this stuff is seriously HOT) it was a very enjoyable drink.
The cardboard takeaway cups seem to get to the temperature of molten lava whilst the tea inside is sipable.
One of the mysteries of modern times.
How tea and coffee from barista cafes can get sooo hot.
Hotter than anything that you can make with the kettle at home.
I do find locating a Pod slightly challenging; if you don’t know London, listing them with just their road name doesn’t really help.
They do have a map showing all the place markers of each outlet but again, it’s a small map and assumes you know London and where you’re going to be. However, after much marching up and down a busy High Holborn I eventually found the Pod Good Food I was looking for. An oasis of calm in a bustling city.
Perhaps information like the nearest tube to each outlet would help geographically challenged types like myself.
They also offer amazingly creative gluten free and often dairy free lunch altneratives to the norm like their Green Dream Salad or Salmon Nori Wrap; well worth a visit if you’re after a healthy snack at lunch time.
Shame I can only experience Pod on visits to London but if they keep doing so well we might see them in other cities.
