Joke about eczema on TV actually made me laugh

01/05/2012 by Ruth Holroyd 6 Comments

If you watch ‘Not going out’ starring comedian Lee Mack there was a hilarious eczema joke last week.

Picture the scene. In a desperate bid to prove his manliness, Lee joins Tim, Daisy and Lucy on a camping weekend in the middle of a dark, spooky forest. That dark spooky forest turned out to be Grinchly Woods. This is what happened next…

Not going out eczema joke

Lee: “Right, well if we can’t find the campsite we’ll find somewhere else. How about Grinchly Woods?” Lee suggests, having spotted it on the map, thinking it is nearby.

Lucy: “Why Grinchly woods?”

Lee: “Well I’ve heard of it before, so I’m sure it’ll be nice.”

Lucy:“You’ve heard of eczema!” in a sarcastic voice

Daisy: “Yeah so have I, isn’t it a national park?”

Made me laugh anyway. LOL

Lee mack’s funny and he writes this sit-com but Tim Vine plays his part brilliantly. He’s Jeremy Vine’s brother you know and won the best joke award in the Edinburgh Fringe 2010 for: “I’ve just got back from the holiday of a lifetime [pause]. Never again!

But will he ever get the girl? I always say laughing is the best medicine.

It is really funny, and Lee doesn’t keep all the best gags for himself either. He give the best ones to Daisy… hilarious and often, not going out because I’m having an allergy infested time.

He He He, Mick I believe it’s somewhere down the M5, but I’m not sure. Tim Vine is indeed a very clever man.

Hi I'm Ruth. I've grown up with eczema and multiple life-threatening allergies and collected more as I've got older.  It started with a peanut allergy and now I'm allergic to milk, wheat, soya and many more. In this blog I share tips, advice and things I've learnt living with allergies, asthma and eczema with a focus on topical steroid withdrawal. You can buy my books, which are brilliant by the way! The first is Anaphylaxis: The essential guide and the second, The Shape of Skin, healing poems for eczema and sensitive skin. The reviews speak for themselves.
