I can’t help everyone. But I can help everyone I can. This was drawn by my incredibly talented niece Lou for all nurses, and especially our step sister Chelle who is working on Covid wards and who we are all so proud of.
The words really hit home for me. As someone who has realised through therapy that one of my life’s callings is to serve others and help wherever I can, the high levels of empathy can feel overwhelming at times like this.
I want to help every person struggling with anxiety and fear over their allergies and I want to be able to offer words of hope and encouragement to every soul struggling through topical steroid withdrawal or eczema.
Sometimes I can’t help them and my words feel empty. I know it’s not enough and that people are still in so much pain.
So these words really struck a chord. It’s why I blog. It’s why I’m sharing my TSW journey, warts and all, in the hope that I can help everyone I can.
But it’s OK to not be able to help everyone all of the time.
It’s OK to not respond to every comment. It’s OK to take time off social media to take care of yourself. You don’t have to help everyone but it’s what makes us human that we try 🙏💕
Special thanks to my amazingly talented niece for drawing me this stunning picture.
